ORS and BearingPoint will showcase HBBTV service platform at Salzburg Cable Days
ORS together with BearingPoint will showcase an end to end HBBTV Service Management Platform at the upcoming Salzburg Cable Days

VIENNA, GRAZ, AUSTRIA – October 28th, 2009 – ORS, the Austrian Broadcasting Services, and its technology partner BearingPoint today announced that they will unveil their plans around an end to end HBBTV service platform at the upcoming Salzburg Cable Days (Nov 5th/6th).

HBB – Hybrid Broadcast Broadband – the seamless combination of linear digital TV content distributed in DVB networks with on demand information delivered via broadband IP connection to a single TV screen is a major business opportunity for broadcasters and content providers.

“Our customers, Radio and TV service operators, are dealing with their HBB roadmaps right now. We as a broadcasting service want to help them to enter this business quickly and launch HBB services successfully” says Norbert Grill, Managing Director, ORS. “The risk and complexity to build a HBB service platform is quite high. This is why ORS wants to position the new HBB offering as a managed service for broadcasters” Mr. Grill comments.

“This is the first HBB showcase in Austria based on HBBTV Set Top Boxes. Furthermore this is the first showcase of its kind to demonstrate HBBTV subscriber management, billing and customer care” outlines Werner de Buigné, BearingPoint HBB Solution Leader.

Infonova BSS – a proven Business Support System for the service provider industry – has been taken on board from the very beginning. Its current Release 6 offers the multi tenant and white labeling capabilities that ORS requires to offer HBB as a managed service.

HBB means a huge opportunity for broadcasters, but also a significant paradigm shift. They will have to apply new convergent business model thinking quickly, aiming for innovative services and excellent customer experience. ORS wants to support broadcasters to enter this new territory successfully.
