The main focus of this study on Data Management in SAP Environments was to identify the motivation to implement “smarter” storage solutions by using recent technologies: Especially the recurring tasks of system copy provisioning, backups, and the creation of test- and development systems are a heavy burden on companies in terms of time, storage and data center space, and have a direct impact on cost through high administrative efforts.

As a remedy for this situation, ideas and technologies to utilize virtualization and automation are used in the market, which lead to a high rate of efficiency, effectiveness and innovation if solutions are implemented strategically and methodically.

The study takes a look at exemplary customer cases in their respective requirements, challenges, success factors and KPI results in implementing “smarter” storage and data management solutions. The study has been supported by NetApp Deutschland GmbH, whose products play a prominent role in serving the industry.
